About Me

Hi, I'm Brad Watts. I'm a 4th year IT degree apprentice. I started off as a software engineer, then rotated into technical services.

2 Truths and a Lie

1. I studied IT at Greenwich University for 4 years

2. I didn’t pay for my degree… I got paid instead

3. I’m the UFC heavyweight champion of the world

Found the lie? Technically I haven’t fully finished university yet…

Anyway, here are some more random facts about me:

4. I got a job as a software engineer with no previous coding experience

5. I became a Governor at my old senior school just 3 years after being a student there myself

6. I am 22 years old. Born in April, 2002 in Essex.

My Journey as an Apprentice

My apprenticeship journey started back in 2020 when the whole country was still in lockdown. I had no idea what I wanted to do after we ‘left school’ following COVID - but I knew exactly what I didn’t want to do. Which is why I never even bothered to apply for universities in the traditional sense.

Fast forward a few years and i’m about to graduate from the University of Greenwich with a degree in Digital and Technology Solutions that I didn’t pay a penny for. Better yet - i’ve been earning a salary the whole time, while gaining valuable experience in the industry.

In my first role I worked as a software engineer - learning how to code on the job. Yep, you heard that right. I became a software engineer with no previous coding experience whatsoever. In 2022 I rotated into the technical services team which is what I’ve been doing ever since.
